"Das Jahr der Eidechse" (The year of the lizard)

Sometimes it seems to me as if there is something… then there is a vague sensation, a hunch, a subtle hint. Like a movement in the corner of the eye, a rustle in the bushes, leaves still swaying from something that brushed past. Like a lizard - you’re only sure it was there once it’s already gone. For a brief moment, perception changes before the mind takes over again.
It appears in the most ordinary situations and things: in the light of a lamp, an empty glass in the sink, the reflection of clouds on a car hood, the posture of a shop mannequin. Everyday moments but also fragile and fleeting. You have to be careful, before it slips away again.
But similar to the lizard that sheds its tail to confuse the predator and survive, something remains.

I took all the images in the book with analogue cameras and I handcrafted the whole book.

"Das Jahr der Eidechse" was one of the 20 finalists for the Photobook Award of Encontros da Imagen 2020.

"Das Jahr der Eidechse" (El año de la lagartija)

A veces me parece que hay algo… entonces hay una vaga sensación, una corazonada, un sutil indicio. Como un movimiento en el rabillo del ojo, un crujido entre los arbustos, hojas que aún se mecen tras algo que pasó rozando. Como una lagartija: solo estás seguro de que estaba allí cuando ya se ha ido. Por un breve instante, la percepción cambia antes de que la mente vuelva a tomar el control.
Aparece en las situaciones y cosas más cotidianas: en la luz de una lámpara, un vaso vacío en el fregadero, el reflejo de las nubes en el capó de un coche, la postura de un maniquí de tienda. Momentos cotidianos, pero también frágiles y fugaces. Hay que tener cuidado, antes de que se desvanezca de nuevo.
Pero, como la lagartija que suelta la cola para confundir al depredador y sobrevivir, algo permanece.

He tomado todas las imágenes de este libro con distintas cámaras analógicas y he confeccionado el libro a mano.

"Das Jahr der Eidechse" ha sido uno de los 20 finalistas del Photobook Award of Encontros da Imagen 2020.
