La Cura (The Cure) is a photograpy project born as a response to adversity. Loss, resilience, and rebirth are personified through images of cemeteries, heavy machinery, and circus performers, respectively. These elements are presented to the viewer as an intertwined trinity that articulates ideas, paradoxes and emotions that are inherent to the grieving process.
This work involves multiple shots taken of circus artists in cemeteries. Through their performances and interaction with the cemetery, they bring to life the different stages of grief: denial, anger, negotiation, depression and acceptance. Jugglers, entertainers, verticalists, porters, stilt walkers, clowns, and acrobats were involved in the realization of this project. Photographs of multiple cemeteries and construction sites in Madrid are included. This work started in 2016 and has developed into in a photobook in 2022 under the mentorship of Óscar Monzón and Antonio Xoubanova, finally materializing into my first self-published photo book.
