FERNWEH

FERNWEH does not have a literal translation into English, it is currently a word used to describe the passion for traveling, however its etymology is more cruel: the sadness of not being far from home.

This little zine works like a story, almost like a fable. In it, a young man flees his land and his people, ultimately being overcome by the consequences of self-isolation. Throughout the pages of this brief publication a romantic German landscape is discovered, in which the character that inhabits it is gradually perceived both merging in perfect harmony. As a parallel plot the shelters emerge, the late motiv of the photobook's narrative, often opposed to the images of the protagonist, synonyms of escape and restless movement, those in which one finds peace.
FERNWEH is a fictional documentary work about self-isolation, loneliness, sadness and nostalgia. The story of a real person overtaken by the modern world, someone poisoned by the desire to leave without succeeding at all.

This volume is the first part of what will ideally be three volumes in total.
