THE MAGIC MOUNTAIN

The project is articulated through the layers of the passage of time and the remains of the memory of the mountain of Turo de la Rovira.

I have been practicing Qi gong on this mountain for years, a place that connects and accompanies me within the cement of the city.

The Turo de la Rovira mountain is one of the oldest in Barcelona. In it are the remains of the strata of the history of the city. It contains in turn the history through its nature and remains of the settlements that occupy and occupied it.

“Time, in reality, has no cuts, no thunder, no tempest, no horn sounds at the beginning of a new month or a new year and even in the soul of a new cycle; only men fire cannons and throw the bells on the fly” Fragment of “The Magic Mountain”, Thomas Mann.

Photos and history based on the research I have done on the Turo de la Rovira.

Each poster is an image of some element of the park. A macro image that on its underside gives us perspective of what was. Like an archaeological excavation when observing with the microscope a fragment of something, the mountain tells us in its remains what happened in it.

The first piece is the bark of a tree whose perspective is a forest.

The second piece is a rock that hides the mountain.

The third piece is the roots and tops of some pine trees.

The fourth piece is a path in the mountains and the view of the city of Barcelona from the bunkers.

The fifth piece is some tiles and the remains of the barracks with the view of the city.

There are five cards that tell through their strata the history of this place through it passed Iberians, Romans … strategic place in the civil war and migratory settlement after the post-war period.

Work consisting of five pieces printed in Risografia on two sides. Edition of 50 copies
