History assaults the traveller who visits Madrid’s Barrio de las Letras, where literary figures such as Miguel de Cervantes, Lope de Vega, Quevedo and Góngora lived.

During the day, the locals go about their shopping and hurry about, while outsiders wander through its nooks and crannies and marvel at its history. At night things change; one and the other coincide in the same places, they share the streets and in the shadows they think they recognise the quarrels between Cervantes and Lope or the enmity between Quevedo and Góngora. Past and present, neighbours and strangers, day and night, parallel universes that come together in this forgotten neighbourhood to remember a passage of history, to find a mocking smile or to immortalise the fleetingness of the hours.
