The sacred and the real is a reflection on the ancestral relationship of the human being with nature where nature is presented as a sacred space and of recollection

The series takes place among the high-altitude shepherds in the Aragonese and Catalan Pyrenees in Spain, whose life and work happens during the summer months at the highest levels.  Shepherds raise the herds at two or three thousand meters of altitude to guarantee food and a mild climate.

They spend several weeks away from their community, alone, with only their flock and dogs. They live in small cabins devoid of any comfort. They are in permanent relation with the natural environment and they know their codes and signals well.

Currently most of us live in a highly technical society where it is difficult to recognize our dependence on nature.

We have moved dangerously away from it to prioritize other types of links more related to the technical and digital environment typical of the 21st century.

The sacred and the real claims the coexistence in the natural environment and pays tribute to its telluric forces and to the men who are still capable of living in it in full harmony.
