Punto de Fuga

El Salto is a publication that brings together Mateo's photographs of the Salto del Tequendama, an emblematic waterfall on the Bogotá River, and other documents (visual and literary) that expand the vision we have of this natural place. The book offers the possibility of traveling through the landscape, stopping for moments in images of rainforest, then in abstract images that show flashes of light on the film or the ripples of water on the surface of the river until reaching a difficult moment in which the silhouette of a man is perceived from a distance throwing himself into the void as traditionally do the suicides who visit the place.

The design, made by Tangrama, also includes a series of inserts with historical images that relate important events that took place in this place since the 19th century. These images are accompanied by a short essay by Verónica Uribe that explores the historical background of the visual representation of the waterfall from the 19th century to the present and a text from the design workshop that addresses Mateo's relationship with the type of images.
