AMA LUR is the final chapter of a research project called Galerna that Cazenave started in 2007, and during these years the author composes a visual imaginary of the idiosyncrasies and aesthetics of the Basque people with the intention of unraveling the complex political fabric of their place of origin from an anthropological perspective.
Cazenave goes back here to the Upper Palaeolithic and focuses his study on the symbolic and ritual world of rock art of both sides of the Pyrenean mountain range to reinterpret the trace of the human beings who lived in this environment.
AMA LUR thus questions the concept of border and presents a territory full of history and magic. From the depths of the earth, Cazenave brings us closer to a universe that appeals to the ancestral spirit of man and to his balance with nature, a belief system that still transforms us today.
