CURSO DISCURSO [Course and Speech] is a rare, unusual book that is difficult to classify and even more difficult to define. Typologically speaking, it could be described as a poetic essay on photographic books and visual language that uses design and photography to project itself, to gain meaning, while also speaking about itself. There is a great deal of craftsmanship in it, years of practice and thoughtful dedication. It is the product of extreme care, diligent attention, and meticulous work. Its authors are professional editors, designers, and photographers, known for their work, but above all for their particular way of carrying it out.
It is said that when you compare two photographs, they should be more than the sum of their parts, and that their juxtaposition should give rise to at least a third mental image that has the power to discriminate between us as readers, but also to bring us closer to an unspoken intention. Undoubtedly, the joint work of these three authors functions in a similar way. We could try to describe this book, to outline a horizon of expectations for its future readers: this is ultimately what is expected of a text like this, that it informs, that it encourages purchase; but the truth is that there are books that begin when they are closed, that is when they gain strength and reveal their true nature. Is there any better preparation for an unexpected discovery than one that comes to you through intuition or impulse?
If this book is for you, you will know it; no further words will be necessary.
