Yann Gross is passionate about skateboarding and always takes his board with him on his travels. During one of his trips to East Africa, he meets a group of skaters known for having built Uganda's first and only half-pipe. Located in Kitintale, in the popular suburbs of Kampala, Gross is immediately captivated by this local infrastructure and the integrating role it plays among the area's youth. Given the limitations of the place, particularly the scarcity of equipment, skateboarding becomes a collective sport that generates a new range of unprecedented styles and tricks. After sharing their daily lives for several months, Gross fully integrates into the group, to the point of co-organizing the first skateboarding championship in the African Great Lakes region and expanding the skatepark a few years later. Alongside these anecdotes, his privileged perspective allows him to analyze in detail how this sport strengthens bonds and fosters dreams within this micro-community. Kitintale thus goes beyond mere documentary narratives, fashionable clichés or paternalistic discourses, and offers a humanistic and balanced view of contemporary changes in Africa.
