LIBRO [BOOK]

BOOK is an essay about photography books and their current status in Spain.
Although the photobook is not the only way to capture and share work, this format for presenting photography has undergone spectacular development in Spain. Through dialogue between several of the protagonists of this boom, this work attempts to respond to what has happened in the last ten years of exponential growth in the quantity and quality of photobooks published.

BOOK includes an essay on what the photobook is and a conversation between Horacio Fernández (independent curator and author of numerous books on photography books), Jon Uriarte (photographer and photography curator), Cristina de Middel (author of the acclaimed The Afronauts) and Eloi Gimeno, perhaps the most innovative designer in this field in Spain and author of the design, in addition to this publication, of KARMA by Óscar Monzón, winner of The Paris Photo-Aperture Foundation First Photobook Award 2013.

It is published on the occasion of the exhibition FOTOLLIBRES: Aquí i Ara, which was held at the Foto Colectania Foundation in Barcelona from 13 May to 30 July 2014.
