It is a propaganda book based on the private life of the Portuguese dictator Salazar. Javier Ortiz-Echagüe says: "It's really surprising because the book was written by a secret police officer from Salazar's police force, almost an espionage officer, but it tells the story of the dictator, who comes across as someone who is extremely sensitive, who spends his time walking alone in the countryside, melancholic, smelling flowers, tasting wines, in a completely peaceful manner. Basically, what it shows is that he would rather not do it. He is a kind of amazing Bartelby."
