The Waiting Game

The Waiting Game brings together a series of photographs taken by Txema Salvans over six years along the Spanish Mediterranean coast. It forms a striking picture of need and desire, where concept and visual expression fit together perfectly. The essence of the work is an exploration of the varied and often surprising range of human desires and behaviours.

Txema photographed prostitution on roads and motorways in its real context: intersections and roundabouts, dead-end streets in industrial estates, and roadside verges. These are marginal places that serve as the backdrop for an activity as overexposed as prostitution.
