The PhD thesis Transformations in PhotobookPublishing in Spain (2008-2018) analyses the conceptual and formal changes that have taken place in photobooks over the last decade. These transformation simply a departure from conventional and standardised models such as the catalogue or themonograph, in which the photographer’s intervention is kept to a minimum and conditioned by the framework of the publishing industry, and an approach to other categories of printed art such asartist’s books, in which the author controls all the stages of the project. Between 2008 and 2018, there has been a notable increase in the publication of photobooks. This is due to a series of factors linked to the developmentof technologies that made design and printing easier and cheaper, and to a renewed appreciation of books as multisensory devices. In addition, from the beginning of the new millennium, and especially since 2008, with the onset of the economic crisis, there is a paradigm shift that also affects the financing, production and distribution of photobooks...
