Bogotá Zombie. Se levantan los muertos del 9 de abril
Laguna Libros
2020
The history of this book is very interesting. Edited as a 1948 newspaper, published with the date of the day after the Bogotazo in a newspaper format with some comic book elements, Bogotá Zombie, se levantan los muertos del 9 de abril is a surprising publication. Transgressive. The story places us between reality and fiction to show us how delirious the world we live in can be and how difficult it is to recognize concrete historical facts after events as dramatic as those that took place in Bogotá on April 9 with the assassination of Jorge Eliecer Gaitán.
This is how the editors describe their discovery and justify this publication: "In the Laguna Libros office, the editors found a package in a box. It appeared when we replaced a sheet of wood on the wall that had deteriorated due to humidity. That happens with old buildings. We work on Avenida Jiménez, in downtown Bogotá, where the newspaper El Espectador operated until a few decades ago. The package was wrapped in wax paper and full of dust. When we opened it, we found five newspapers dated April 10, 1948, the year the building was inaugurated.
We did some research and discovered that there is no record of newspapers circulating that day, a fact that is attributed to the riots that began the day before. The material contained in these documents is confusing and contradictory, are they a joke, do they contain the keys to discover the secrets of April 9, in any case it is curious that they remained hidden for more than sixty years. In this folder we present, as posters, the front pages of these five newspapers: El Espectador, El Tiempo, El Siglo, Jornada and La Razón".
