Punto de Fuga

Looking for Bolivar is the result of Pietro Paolini's travels to Bolivia, Ecuador and Venezuela between 2009 and 2014, in which the Italian photographer documents with a certain humor and poetry the daily life in the countries of the new Latin American socialism during the presidencies of Evo Morales, Rafael Correa and Hugo Chavez. The landscapes and situations that Paolini records in a complex and subtle way a search for utopia, a Bolivarian dream that has crossed the continent and that many of its inhabitants claim without therefore reaching it.

Thanks to the photographic instrument, the artist has captured and described existential realities charged with humor, building a true visual novel: a story that represents the whole of life, in all its historical, social, economic, anthropological and political implications. Although the edition is simple, the pastel tone of the images, the size of the book with its large margins and the space for contemplation give a total coherence to the whole work.
