Nereo López, un contador de historias is a book designed to become an exhibition. If one were to undo the spine of the book, each double page appears with a very special edition, where the images are not thought of as narrative, but as floating images through which one can travel, as Camilo Rozo says in his review of the book "at its peak, between the 30s and 50s of the twentieth century, photography was the responsible and exclusive means of showing the world the face of "reality".

During that golden age, the most reputable publications devoted their best space to the extraordinary images of a group of adventurous artists, who at the time were eagerly exploring the scope of their equipment and their vision. The great names of Bresson, Capa, Seymour, Lange and many others became decisive references for anyone who wanted to delve deeper into the craft. Parallel to the art of all those masters of the world at that time, and not far from their influences, it is fair to say that one of Colombia's great contributions to this universal medium is Nereo López, the book "Nereo López, a storyteller" by La Silueta Ediciones is the fifth title in its F:otoTK collection.

With the depth and dedication that any project involving Nereo's work deserves, this publishing house took on the task of curating and putting together a small portion of the work that corresponds - in the words of Juan Pablo Fajardo and Andrés Fresneda - "to the most prolific and most active years of the artist from Cartagena", covering a period of nearly ten years of work (between 1958 and 1968), and concentrating on the narrative success of each of his photographs. Without prioritizing the vitality and art in Nereo's work, the book points out the value that each image has as a story, providing a space so that in some of the series, spread throughout its pages, two or three pictures of the same scene also make us feel the cinematography of the master. It is a magical book".
