What happens to books when no one reads them? What happens to the records when no one listens to them? What happens to the photos when no one looks at them? Rather than find out, I preferred to take the lead. With the necessary precautions, I removed from the family album a series of shots that had in common to have been taken in the same place and I put them back in a situation. The fire station had been destroyed, the garden wall had been repainted and the cinema had closed. But apart from that, the water in the pool was still so clear, the tennis players as diligent and the begonias so flourishing. Basically, nothing had changed. —Philippe Dumez, Reprises
