Conexiones

Conexiones is a book whose starting point is the architectural forms known by that name and which function as elevated passageways between two buildings. In principle, these are structures for exclusive use -restricted or not entirely public- that test the use and functions of habitable space. Many of these constructions pass over, cross or intercept a space that is supposedly common; however, it is ambiguous how they come into contact with the enclosures they connect.

The connections are posed as appendages: passageways between larger architectural systems that attempt to logically or arbitrarily (as a shortcut does) solve circulation needs. The existence of connections allows the norms of public space management to become ambivalent: in some cases these connections may be invading it without permission, but there is no precise regulation in the city (and in the country) to define it. As Nicolás Consuegra mentions, this is evidence of how private interests prevail over public ones.

The book conexiones has two readings, it associates Consuegra's photographic records with a writing by Enrique Ramírez Botero. The text does not attempt to expand the content of the images: it is a reflection that crosses literary, historical, artistic and architectural references between Bogotá and other geographical contexts.
